We Got Married

Hello. How was your Easter weekend? All good I hope. Ours was pretty hectic. I worked Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday at the ski hill, and also managed to squeeze in marrying Kaitlyn on Sunday afternoon. Yes, that’s right ladies, sadly I’m no longer available.

We had probably the most chilled out and relaxed wedding of all time, as well as probably the cheapest. I got home from work around 3pm, stuck a roast in the oven, quickly showered and changed into my smart shirt and awaited our friend and marriage commissionaire Beth to arrive, along with her husband, two grandchildren and our friends Morgan, Alex and their little boy Forrest. Everyone turned up at the same time, we had a quick chat then got down to the important task of getting hitched. It was perfect. We stood out on our deck in the afternoon sun, and as Beth started the service I was struck by the beauty that was all around me. The mountains, the trees, the pristine white snow and I guess Kaitlyn too. Such a beautiful setting to get married in. No family were present as we have them all coming over in July to celebrate. It was nice to do it this way, as there was no arguing on who to invite, who not to invite etc. It was a day for Kaitlyn and I and that’s all that mattered to us. I often think modern weddings are more about the venue, the food and guest list rather than the two people who are making a lifelong commitment to each other. (Oh God, I’m stuck with her till I croak it.) I’m not saying that it’s wrong to do that, but to me it just doesn’t make sense to spend a fortune on a wedding, especially when you want to buy a tractor. Anyway, this was different, it was purely about us and took place in our beautiful home. Perfect.

The Happy Couple.  I’m trying to show off by beer baby in case you were wondering

The party in July is pretty much an open invite so if you’re wanting to join us for a little shindig, then pack your tent, bring some burgers n’ beer and we will see you for our little celebration. We will ply my brother Chris with alcohol, put a guitar in his hand and our entertainment will be sorted.

So, that was our weekend. In other news I can finally see an end to this winter and I’m eager for the warmer weather to arrive and all the work it will bring. I am hopeful our Work Away volunteers will prove to be an enormous success, and our campground will be up and running before we know it. There is so much to look forward to and so much potential here. The excitement is almost too much to bare, but bare it I must for a few more weeks at least until the snow finally subsides.

This week will be a busy one felling trees and processing firewood for next winter. “Amazing,” I hear you cry, back to more stories of wood gathering and log chopping. Except there is a twist in the plot. We have ourselves a nice shiny new log splitter. It’s not just any log splitter though, it’s a 22ton gas powered beast, that will not only split my wood, but also anyone else that wants to buy logs through me. Place your orders now. I don’t know who’s more excited to get processing timber, as Kaitlyn has revealed her love of all things machinery to me just recently. Maybe that means I can sweet talk a tractor into our property sooner rather than later. We shall see.

Finally, I want to talk to you about Water-to-Go again. This product is a must have for anyone who ventures off the beaten track, or for anyone wanting to cut out single use plastic water bottles, that are causing so many problems in our oceans. As you’re aware I run a small business from home selling these filtration bottles that remove 99.9% of viruses, bacteria, heavy metals, chemicals and much more. They literally provide you with safe clean drinking water wherever you are in the world. Fill it up from any source (except sea water) and drink. I have a basement full of these bottles that I really need to sell. For all you wonderful readers I am offering 15% off all purchases by using discount code ‘CABIN’ at checkout, meaning you pay Just over $50 CAD for one of these incredible bottles, including free delivery across the whole of Canada.  Visit www.watertogo-canada.com for more information and to order your Water-to-Go bottle now. You will be doing me a huge favour and maybe Kaitlyn will stop moaning at me for them taking up all the room downstairs.

Anyway, that’s it for this week’s installment. I hope you all have a wonderful week and I look forward to telling you all about my log processing adventures in the next post. Oh, one last thing, please continue to share our Facebook and other social media pages. Thanks
